Abstract:A new method was designed to synthesize ammonium dinitramide (ADN) form 3-aminopropionitrile. Its structure was identified and some properties were determined, such as melting point 90~92℃,decomposition point 252℃,density 1.80g·cm-3,impact sensitivity H50(2kg,30mg) 24cm,friction sensitivity (66°,2.45MPa,20mg) 14% and combustion heat 517kJ·mol-1. The condensation and second nitration as the critial steps of ADN synthesis were studied.

Abstract:Hexabenzylhexaazaisowurtzitane (HBIW) is the precursor to hexanitrohexaazaisowurtzitane (HNIW)—the most powerful high energy density explosive ever tested. Improvement of quality and yield of HBIW is one of the measures to decrease the cost of HNIW. In this paper,a comparison of acetonitrile process with ethanol process for synthesis of HBIW is made from the points of yield, quality, reaction rate and reaction conditions based on experimental results. It′s undoubted that acetonitrile process is superior to ethanol process in all mentioned aspects. It should be considered that acetonitrile is more toxic than ethanol, but its toxicity is still moderate. Based on American codes, the values of LD50,LC50 and TLV-TWA of acetonitrile are higher than or comparable with those of acetic acid, acetic anhydride,N,N-dimethylformamide and chloroform etc. With adequate protection measures the safety of acetonitrile process will not be a problem. But emphasis must be put on safety when acetonitrile process is used.

Abstract:The ultrafine particles of copper chromite were prepared by LG mixing grinder through chosing technical parameters. Under the special striking and pressing, ultrafine ammonium perchlorate (AP)-copper chromite composite was made in the grinder cavity. With particles composited the interface of the two kinds of particles is increased, the dispersivity and homogenization of the particles are raised therefrom. The experimental results indicate that the catalyst effect of copper chromite is improved, and the decomposition temperature of AP is decreased. Employing the composite particles in composite propellant can increase its combustion rate.

Abstract:The single crystal of 2,4-dinitroresorcinol was prepared and characterized by elemental analysis,IR and DSC. Its crystal structure was determined by a four-circle X-ray diffractometer. The results show that the crystal is of orthorhombic system. Space group is P212121 with crystal parameters of a=0.4761(1)nm,b=0.6378(1)nm,c=2.3990(2)nm,V=0.7285(4)nm3,Z=4,DC=1.825g·cm-3,μ=0.168mm-1,F(000)=408.

Abstract:A numerical simulation method is presented to compute kinetic parameters of the first-order autoca- talytic decomposition (FOACD) of nitrocellulose (NC). Based on the TG analysis results, two differential kinetic equations of the FOACD and the first-order reaction are proposed to describe change before and after 50% weight loss of NC along with time.

Abstract:The co-coated HMX particles and burning-rate catalysts by emulsion polymerization of OH-terminated PU prepolymer and isophorone diisocyanate was studied. During preparation of OH-terminated PU prepolymer, tris-(hydroxy methyl) propane was chosen as triol monomer to improve the abrasion resistance and solvent resistance of the final crosslinked coatings. The experimental results show that the burning-rate pressure exponent of NEPE propellant thereof decreases 0.04 by using co-coated HMX and burning-rate catalyst. An applicable coating procedure is also given herein.

Abstract:The effect of different ratio of PNP to PVB and different solvent in binder on the combustion beha-viors of heat-resisting caseless ammunition was studied by using the manometric bomb test. The experimental results show that the mixed solvent containing ethyl methyl ketone in the binder can enhance the combustion rate of the caseless ammunition, and the properly enlarged ratio of PNP/PVB can improve the combustion behavior as well.

Abstract:The electric spark sensitivity of 12 nitramines was determined as the spark energy,EES, required for 50% initiation probability.A relationship between the EES and the square of detonation velocity of these substances was specified. The relationship was used to predict the EES values of nitramines not yet synthesised, particularly, the theoretically important compounds in the field of nitramine chemistry, such as 1-nitro-1-azaethylene,1,3-dinitro-1,3-diazacyclobutane and 1,3,5,7,9-pentanitro-1,3,5,7,9-pentaazacyclodecane.
Abstract:The curves of impact acceleration vs time of some common explosives were experimentally determined in drop weight test. The apparently different shapes given by the low melting point explosives like Tetryl and TNT,and those given by high melting point HMX and RDX seem to agree with the process in hot point formation. These results show that the determination of impact acceleration in drop weight test would give a criterion to judge the response of the tested sample.

Abstract:Transient pulse test (TPT) is an efficient nondestructive method of testing electric igniter, and its principle is introduced briefly. According to the characteristics of the electric igniter in rocket engines, the quality of igniter is evaluated by analyzing the temperature rise curves by means of neural network. It's shown that the result of nondestructive inspection is in correspondence with that of firing test.
