Abstract:Based on analysing the different combustion behaviors between the end-sealed propellant charge with inner-hole-blockage and the normal charge,three methods were proposed to adjust the gas-generation quantity of the said end-sealed charge. Compared with the 19 perforative normal propellant and sequentially splitting shaft propellant, the effect of the title propellant on the combustion surface enlargement is obviously better than those of the formers.

Abstract:The synthesis method of high molecular weight glycidyl azide polymer (HL-GAP) is described. The experimental results indicate that the azidation of the precursor,polyepichlorohydrin (PECH),is always accompanied with its chain-breaking. In order to prepare high molecular weight and high azidized product,the influence of catalyst,antioxydant,inert gas protection and other factors on the HL-GAP molecular weight (Mw) and its distribution were experimentally investigated. After optimization of the above said factors,the Mw of HL-GAP was increased to 1.5×105 and 2.95×105 with azidation rate (Ra) of 99.16% and 69.20%,respectively,much higher than Vandenberg′s report in USP 3 645 917 (Mw=5×104,Ra=49%).

Abstract:The melting process of NC was examed by using MDSC technique,microscope carrier method and incorporation with the solid reaction cell/RSFT-IR. The experimental results show that the endothermic process in the MDSC curve is invertible. It is caused by the phase change from solid to liquid of the mixture of initial NC and partly decomposed products in condensed phase. The values of the melting point,melting enthalpy ( ΔHm),melting entropy (ΔSm),and the enthalpy of decomposition (ΔHdec) and the heat-temperature quotient (ΔSdec) obtained by the MDSC curve of NC at heating rate of 10K·min-1 are 476.84K,205.6J·g-1,0.4312J·g-1·K-1,-2475.0J·g-1,-5.242J·g-1·K-1,respectively. The MDSC analysis results of NC with different nitrogen contents show that with increase of nitrogen content in NC,the absolute values of ΔHm,ΔSm,ΔHdec and ΔSdec increase.

Abstract:The electric spark sensitivties of 15 polynitro compounds were measured and compared with the results reported by other authors.The electric energy,EES,required for 50% initiation probability of the same sample is different from each other obtained by different author,which must be caused by the different test specification of the electrode energy used by different authors. But the authors of this report have found a linear relationship between their own experimental data with some other authors′.

Abstract:The thermal decomposition of 11 compounds containing azidomethyl-gem-dinitro groups was studied by DTA and the formal kinetic parameters E and A were obtained. Comparison of the kinetic parameters of some azides with those of trinitromethyl compounds with structures similar to the corresponding former's shows that E values increase due to the entrance of azide-group. The influences of the number and position of azidomethyl-gem-dinitro groups on the thermal decomposition kinetic parameters of azidomethyl derivatives were also studied.

Abstract:A device for measuring thermal conductivity is designed and built by ourselves,which is attached to a Perkin-Elmer DSC-2C instrument.A method of determining thermal conductivity (λ) of small cylindrical samples and its expression for calculating λ is established. The thermal conductivities of 18 propellants,explosives and the related materials are determined. The results show that the deviation is ≤3.7%,lower than the internationally accepted limit of 5%.The values obtained from the present method are consistent well with those from the Guarded Hot Plate and Microcalorimeter. The experimental data of the reference materials are in agreement with their standard values.Meanwhile the influences of the dimension,the homogeneity and the end-faces parallelism of the sample on its thermal conductivity are discussed.

Abstract:Research progress in correlation beween molecular structure and sensitivity of energetic materials was reviewed.The results show that the impact sensitivity of nitroaromatics is related to the strength of C-NO2 bond,the shock sensitivity of nitramine and nitroaliphatic compounds is related to the number,length of N-NO2 bonds and molecular weight,which demonstrate that the structure characteristics of energetic materials do affect its sensitivities.These results are importance to study the characteristics and develop new energetic materials.
