Abstract:
The thermal behaviors of three NTO-based PBXs and their compatibilities with aluminum, copper and stainless steel were investigated using TG-DSC and vacuum stability test(VST). Results show that: (1) A small amount of gases are produced from the three PBXs,suggesting their good thermal stability. When the PBXs contact with aluminum, copper and stainless steel, the additional amount of gas is less than 3.0 mL·(5 g) -1,and the decreasing values of peak temperatures are less than 2.0 ℃,showing their good compatibilities. (2) The peak temperatures of the decomposition of NTO and HMX in PBXs are lower than that of the pure explosives, indicating that the coexisting of these explosive can mutually accelerate their decomposition at high temperature.
