Abstract:
The gelling process of aviation kerosene by hydroxypropyl cellulose has been studied by using a soft-solid tester. It has been found that the liquid fuel can be efficiently gelled in the presence of suitable additives, including a kind of surfactant and some other solvents etc. The gel can be formed within 3 min provided a proper formulation under a certain shear stress. In this case, the gel formed is thermo-stable,and does not experience phase separation within a temperature range of -20 ℃ to 95 ℃. In addition, the gel can be maintained for more than 12 months at room temperature.
